New Evaluation Approaches

Our first initiative is a year-long study to identify major trends in the field and to highlight emerging approaches to evaluation that help to increase effectiveness. FSG's research, funded by The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, is based on nearly 100 interviews with foundation leaders and evaluators, and our report includes real-life examples of successful evaluation efforts by more than two dozen foundations of all sizes. Click here to download a free copy of our report, From Insight to Action: New Directions in Foundation Evaluation, released at the Council on Foundations' Annual Conference in April 2007. A related collection of case studies will also be available.

FSG is presently developing additional materials based on our research, including an interactive workbook developed in association with the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers, and a board briefing.

Additional research projects are currently under development and in need of additional funding. For more information, please contact Mark Kramer.
